A critically important new Gondwana Link program has got off to a flying start in the Margaret River end of the Link, with initial funding provided by the State Natural Resource Management Program WA. Driven by clinical psychologist Suzanne Hicks and community nurse Sandra Robertson, students from Margaret River Senior High School were introduced to the joys of ecological restoration work over a 20-week period. Part of the project included development of a draft methodology to analyse the well-being benefits to each individual. This was undertaken by Lies Notebeart at UWA, who then tested it in interviews with each student. Initial results show encouraging well-being and other health benefits. We have secured additional funding from Lotterywest for the program to operate in 2023 and 2024. Suzanne’s story of the work so far is here.
